Say No to Bill 24

The Agricultural Land Reserve (ALR) was created in 1970’s by the BC Legislature in the 1970s. The Agricultural Land Commission (ALC) was kept at arms length from the government of the day so that the long-term protection of farmland would override short-term political considerations. With Bill 24, the BC government is transferring responsibility for farmland protection from the ALC to the Oil and Gas Commission and weakening the protection of agricultural land in British Columbia.
